June Mission of the Month
McCurdy Mission School Project Carino
Located in the Appalachian area, health services are provided to a medically underserved population at the main medical clinic and a satellite clinic.  The public health nurse sees others in their own homes.  The welfare of the individual is considered before the person’s ability to pay.  Those in need are not turned away.   Providers often pray with their patients, listen to their problems and provide referral and advocacy for other services.

July Mission of the Month
Larry and Jane Kies, Zimbabwe
Larry and Jane are missionaries assigned to Africa University in Zimbabwe. He serves as a technical adviser at the university, assisting in the development of the university’s farm and working to train a new generation of agriculturalists from countries across the continent. She teaches English to students coming from countries where English is not spoken.

November Mission of the Month
Bethany Terrace Alzheimer’s Care Center
This center provides high quality, compassionate and holistic care for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Total residential care is complemented by family education and support groups, outreach to local churches and community organizations, and an exchange of resources with other area care facilities. This nationally recognized program features in-home assessments, care planning that involves the family, attention to individual needs and a range of social, spiritual and physical activities. Care Center goals are to maintain the highest-possible level of independence for each resident and to nurture family, church and community relationships.

December Mission of the Month
Northwest Suburban Hispanic Ministries
Helps struggling Hispanic families help themselves. They have a food and clothing pantry where volunteers assist and supervise the selection of needed items. Many recipients are now helping others by returning items they no longer need. This boosts their self-esteem in the process. They do translations of letters and documents, help find medical, legal and educational professionals, and encourage clients to take English as Second Language classes to be able to move ahead in their chosen fields.
Cornerstone Church is a Rainbow Covenant Church. Cornerstone fully participates in the mission and ministry of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church through our apportioned dollars and then goes the second mile to support selected mission projects throughout the year.
