On Sunday, May 23rd, we welcomed and baptized new members.

On Sunday, May 30th, we also welcomed 2 children to the church by by baptism.

From the desk of Pastor Melissa: I had the pleasure of spending time discussing the Holy Spirit with some of Cornerstone’s youth this week - it was a joy. So often we reduce the Holy Spirit to one Sunday, one story: Pentecost. But the Holy Spirit is so much more.

We had a wonderful time on Sunday, May 23rd as we celebrated Cornerstone’s 23rd anniversary.

Stepping Stones 2021 Graduation.

The Spirit Lake Ministry is a UMC-sponsored mission in support of the peoples of the Spirit Lake Nation, which includes six reservations in the Dakotas and Minnesota. One part of the outreach is Shoebox Christmas, a program that provides Christmas gifts to children on the reservations.

Zoom Discussion on Thursday, May 25th at 7 pm. Pastor Melissa will be leading a Zoom discussion “Is the Church a Covenant Community or a Voluntary Association?”

Youth dinner, fellowship and confirmation classes in May, 2021: The Way of Discipleship on 5/12 and The Way of Salvation on 5/26.

When Jesus appeared before his friends after the resurrection he said to them, “Peace be with you!”. He greeted them a few days later with those same words of peace. Over and over again those who followed Jesus needed these words of greeting and reassurance because they were afraid and unsure and they didn’t understand what was happening in their hearts or in their world.

Zoom Discussion on Thursday, April 22nd at 7 pm. Pastor Melissa will be leading a zoom discussion based on a series of questions being asked by our current Bishop John L. Hopkins. This month Bishop Hopkins is asking us to consider, “Is the church a movement or an institution?”.

On Sunday, April 18th, immediately after worship, Pastor Melissa will be hosting a bruncheon to explore a new members class with those interested in being a member of Cornerstone Church.

In these first few days after our celebration of Easter, we are hopefully moving toward a post-pandemic life and thinking about what our new normal will look like as disciples of Jesus.
